Assembly & Care
Your sauna arrives flat-packed for easy transport and is designed for straightforward DIY assembly. Most customers can complete the build in around 8 hours using standard tools (hammer, drill, level, tape measure, silicone gun, stain and paraffin oil). A flat, level foundation is essential, and the sauna can be set up on concrete, decks, or grass (with sleepers for support).
If you’re reasonably handy and follow the instructions, the build is simple — and we also provide a video guide, clear documentation, and phone support. Professional installation is available within 2 hours of Rotorua, and for electric models an electrician will be required. Interior wood should be treated with food-grade paraffin oil.

Wellness Benefits of Saunas
For nearly 10,000 years, the sauna has been Finland’s sacred social sanctuary — a place to cleanse the body, settle the mind, and reconnect with nature. This treasured ritual is now honoured by UNESCO. Emerging research suggests regular sauna bathing may lower the risk of vascular, cardiovascular, and some neurocognitive diseases, supporting overall wellbeing.
5-10 Minutes: The Foundation Phase
In the first minutes of a sauna session, skin temperature rises sharply and the pulse lifts, giving the heart a gentle, exercise-like workout. Heat begins relaxing muscles, easing joints, and lowering stress. As sweating starts, the body naturally clears pores and may release small amounts of toxins like heavy metals, helping kickstart its cleansing systems.
10-20 Minutes: The Therapeutic Zone
As you stay in the heat, cardiovascular benefits intensify. Sweating increases, heat sinks deeper into muscles, and endorphins rise to support repair and regeneration. Heat-shock proteins activate, boosting cellular resilience. Circulation peaks, clearing waste and delivering oxygen, while the parasympathetic system brings a deep sense of calm and mental clarity.
20-30 Minutes: Maximum Benefits
For seasoned sauna users, longer sessions unlock the richest benefits. Studies suggest those who sauna four to seven times a week may lower cardiovascular mortality risk by about 45%. Extended heat boosts heat-shock proteins linked to longevity and neuroprotection, strengthens vascular function, supports joint and muscle recovery, and deepens the meditative calm that builds lasting mental resilience.
Safety and Best Practices
Always listen to your body and leave the sauna if you feel dizzy or unwell. Stay hydrated, and if you’re new, begin with shorter sessions and build gradually. Sauna use is often safe for mild heart issues, but those with unstable conditions should seek medical advice. Consistent use — not long sessions — is what delivers cumulative benefits, honouring the Finnish tradition of sauna as both sanctuary and wellbeing practice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you use Nordic Pine?
Nordic Pine has been the wood of choice in Finnish saunas for centuries, with proven performance in high-heat, high-humidity environments. It's the authentic Finnish sauna experience. It is also affordable and offers a nice rustic look.
What is thermally modified wood?
A chemical-free process using controlled heat (180-230°C) and steam that permanently alters wood's properties. It removes moisture and sugars, reduces water absorption by 40-50%, and provides enhanced decay and mould resistance — all environmentally friendly.
Do you have 2-person saunas?
Our current range starts at 4 people, which also works great for 2 people. Custom orders are available — please inquire.
Are saunas good for recovery?
Yes! Excellent for recovery. Benefits include increased blood flow to muscles, flushing lactic acid, reduced soreness, faster healing, reduced inflammation, stress relief, and improved sleep. Lower temperatures (70-80°C) are often better for recovery. Combine with cold therapy (ice bath) for maximum benefit!
Can children use saunas?
Yes, with modifications! lower temperatures, shorter sessions (5-10 minutes), constant supervision, plenty of hydration, and lower benches. Always supervise. Never force children to stay if uncomfortable. Pro tip: Frozen berries make great sauna snacks for kids!
