Our Story
Our passion for health and wellness has always been at the heart of everything we do — and it's a passion that has only deepened over time.
Anu grew up in Finland, spending 21 years in the home of sauna. During that time she experienced hundreds of different saunas — from ancient smoke saunas through to modern wood-fired and electric varieties — each offering something distinct and deeply restorative.
Trevor's love of sauna was a slower journey. It wasn't until he met Anu and discovered the cultural depth of Finnish sauna life that he truly fell in love with it. A typical introduction to Finnish sauna involved visiting one of Anu's friends — someone Trevor had never met — and within half an hour finding himself in a sauna with other men, completely at ease. That's the Finnish way. The sauna is where walls come down, where the pressures of the outside world dissolve, and where genuine connection happens.
What continues to captivate us is how different every sauna experience can feel. The size of the room, the timber used, the type of heater — all of it shapes something completely unique. On a recent trip to Finland, we visited Sauna World — yes, that really exists — where you can experience ten different saunas in a single complex, from cave saunas to Swedish saunas to our personal favourite, the smoke sauna.
As a family we sauna three to four times a week, combining heat with cold plunging, and the health benefits we've experienced have been remarkable — in energy, recovery, sleep and mental clarity.
Since starting Pure Sweat Sauna, both Trevor and Anu have faced their own personal health challenges. Rather than slow us down, those experiences have sharpened our focus and shifted our perspective. Making money was never the primary driver — but helping people become healthier most certainly is. Every sauna we sell is driven by a genuine belief that regular sauna use can change lives, and a commitment to making that accessible to every New Zealand home.

We believe in the quality of our Saunas and their ability to handle New Zealand’s harsh environmental conditions.
We also believe and abide by The Consumer Guarantees and Fair-Trading Acts are the legal documents which we have based our policies on. The law sets out very clear standards around businesses not being misleading in promotions and customers have the rights to have faulty or substandard products, repaired, replaced or refunded and returned if needed.
