Frequently Asked Questions — Pure Sweat Sauna NZ
What wood are the saunas made from?
Our saunas are crafted from Nordic Pine, the traditional wood used in Finnish saunas for generations, typically in its natural, untreated state.
All our wood undergoes thermal modification to enhance resistance to decay and degradation. The saunas feature single-layer construction at approximately 38mm thickness, providing excellent thermal insulations properties.
The sauna benches are also constructed from Nordic Pine. Our new luxury range can come with a two layer system. The walls are insulated.

What heaters do the saunas come with and power requirements?
Our electric saunas come with a Harvia sauna heater. Harvia is the largest producers of saunas worldwide and are known for their quality.
All electric sauna heaters must be installed by a certified electrician, who should issue you with a certificate of compliance upon completion. Electric heaters typically require a heavier-gauge cable and a larger fuse size than a standard household connection. Before purchasing, please confirm with your electrician that your property can accommodate the electrical connection required for your chosen sauna heater size.
We are here to support if needed.

What’s included in the sauna package?
All our saunas come with an outdoor sauna room, benches, bucket and ladle, sauna stones, thermometer, sand timer, roof slates, ladle for incense, Harvia sauna heater, outside trim, sauna label, hanger and sauna step.
For installation screws, nails and a mallet are also provided.
Are the saunas easy to assemble?
Yes — with reasonable DIY ability. Saunas come flat packed with clear written instructions, and we provide assembly videos as well. Most owners complete the build in 1 to 2 days, depending on your ability and how many people are helping. If you get stuck, we are only a phone call away.
If you would prefer not to build it yourself, our team can assemble it for you for $1200. If you are located a long way from our Rotorua base, a local builder will have no trouble putting it together — the instructions are straightforward for anyone in the trade.
All electric saunas also need the Harvia heater connected by a certified electrician, who will provide a Code of Compliance on completion.
How do I look after my sauna?
We suggest an oil or stain for greater longevity.
Our saunas will last a long time if looked after. We suggest a stain on the outside of the sauna to help protect from NZ harsh conditions.
We also provide care instructions for your sauna to help ensure they will last.
